2-Month Contract with Local Authority
Summary
- The Benefits Officer is responsible for supporting residents in paying their rent and council tax through the accurate administration of Housing Benefit Council Tax Reduction and Discretionary Financial Support Schemes. This role involves assessing claims providing tailored advice preventing fraud and directing customers to financial inclusion support. The postholder will ensure all assessments comply with national legislation local policy and corporate standards.
Responsibilities
- Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims in line with legislation and Council policies.
- Conduct in-claim and accuracy reviews to ensure correct payments.
- Review and revise decisions when new information is provided.
- Resolve customer queries related to their claims.
- Refer suspected fraud cases to the Single Fraud Investigation Service (SFIS) and respond to evidence requests.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience in HB processing and Civica Open Revenues.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Good standard of education (ability to draft letters and perform basic arithmetic).
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Remote working
- Bi-weekly payment schedule
