Job Description

JOB TITLE: Career and Technical Education Program Specialist P1

REPORTS TO: Director of Career and Technical Education

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

PAY GRADE: AI 2

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Career and Technical Education Program Specialist will work in collaboration with the Director and Coordinator of Career and Technical Education to direct manage and improve CTE programs in grades 6-12 in the areas of Business Management & Administration Career Development Education & Training Finance Hospitality & Tourism Human Services and Marketing. The program specialist will provide guidance and support for curriculum professional development needs career exploration/experiences industry certifications and CTSOs. An employee at this level is expected to coordinate instructional programs on a district level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three years job related experience

Preferred:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university
  • Mid-Management or Principal Certification
  • Industry experience in a CTE related field
  • Three years successful teaching experience in one or more CTE programs
  • Valid teaching certificate in one or more Career and Technical Education (CTE) program areas

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develops curriculum and instructional materials for middle schools and high school CTE courses with an emphasis on project and work based learning.
  • Develop monitor and revise written curriculum for specific program areas.
  • Provide CTE teachers with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective curriculum supporting the cluster areas identified.
  • Perform classroom observations in order to provide data driven feedback regarding teaching strategies and opportunities for growth.
  • Identifies teachers who need additional support and collaborates with the CTE teacher facilitators to provide such support.
  • Provides direction and support to teachers administrators and counselors on a variety of topics including curricular considerations resources and CTE related processes.
  • Supports campus counselors with the scheduling process to ensure that students are properly placed in coherent sequence of courses that lead to HB5 endorsements.
  • Provides direction to CTE department chairs on resources funding travel and reviews requests prior to submission to CTE Accounting Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with Career & Business Partnership Specialist on identifying and developing district wide and or school-based partnerships related to individual CTE programs.
  • Assist in the planning development and implementation of special projects.
  • Collect compile and analyze data to be used in program evaluation filing of state and federal reports and compliance monitoring.
  • Assist in the development monitoring and management of assigned program budgets.
  • Assist with articulating the Districts vision and goals as they relate to CTE.
  • Attend and participate in state local and district meetings and workshops pertaining to assigned responsibilities.
  • Remain current on educational trends and practices as they relate to education in general and more specifically to CTE.
  • Assist in the establishment of policies and procedures which ensure a safe teaching environment access to state of the art equipment and up to date training for both students and teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting some lifting carrying pushing or pulling. This position may require occasional traveling within the district and statewide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
