Job Advert SummaryThe purpose of the Financial Accountant role is to ensure accurate timeous and compliant reporting of companies (including foreign entities) and assist with group consolidation. The role is responsible for monthly management accounts statutory and consolidated reporting (incl foreign currency translations (FCTR)) forecasting budgeting audit coordination and financial governance in line with IFRS and group reporting requirements.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonthly Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly management accounts of local and foreign companies
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly financial data.
- Full accounting responsibility in Sage X3 for foreign holding company.
- Process and manage recharges to local and foreign entities.
Statutory and Consolidated Reporting (Finnivo)
- Upload trial balances into Finnivo of local and foreign entities.
- Prepare dormant and trading statutory reporting packs of local and foreign entities.
- Perform foreign currency translation (FCTR).
- Calculate and account for minority interests.
- Manage intercompany balances and ensure differences are resolved.
- Prepare KPIs and ensure alignment to group consolidation.
- Review consolidated reporting packs.
- Resolve head office and KAP queries.
Reporting and Reconciliations
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile sundry debtors sundry creditors accruals inventory and GRNI.
- Review open purchase orders and related balances.
- Prepare Stats SA reporting.
- Account for audit fee provisions.
Monthly Forecasts
- Assist with forecasting for:
- Minority interests
- Intercompany balances
- Loans and leases
- Capital expenditure
- Respond to forecast-related queries.
Five-Year Forecasts
- Assist with long-term forecasting for minorities intercompany balances loans leases and capital expenditure.
- Support analysis and resolution of forecasting queries.
Budgeting
- Assist with the annual budgeting process for:
- Foreign holding and local companies
- Minority interests
- Intercompany transactions
- Loans leases and capital expenditure
- Support budget reviews and resolve budget-related queries.
Half-Year and Year-End Reporting:
Audit Coordination
- Assist coordinate manage and resolve audit queries.
- Respond to ad hoc audit requests.
Audit Packs and Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and complete audit packs (local and foreign).
- Manage and resolve intercompany audit matters.
- Prepare IFRS-related schedules (e.g. IFRS 16 IFRS 15).
- Assist with management vs statutory reconciliations.
- Assist with statutory and audit queries.
Governance and Reporting
- Assist with ARC schedules.
- Assist with Board and quarterly reporting schedules.
- Assist with ad hoc financial schedules as required.
Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Assist with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
- Resolve queries relating to AFS.
Banking
- Verify payments in line with delegated authority levels.
Ad Hoc and Departmental Support
- Assist the Tax department with queries.
- Assist the Fixed Asset Department with queries.
- Respond to ad hoc queries from the holding company.
- Support FM & Internal Audit with ad hoc information requests.
- Prepare CIPC questionnaires.
- Assist with additional finance-related requests as required.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications / Experience
- CA(SA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Minimum 13 years experience in financial reporting consolidation and statutory accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and group reporting requirements.
- Experience with Sage X3 and consolidation systems (e.g. Finnivo).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience managing external audits and complex intercompany structures.
