A Safety Administrator plays a pivotal role in this endeavor ensuring that the workplace remains compliant with national and international health and safety regulations while fostering a culture of proactive risk management and employee well-being.

Provide administrative support to the Regional EHS Leader in the implementation and maintenance of the Regional EHS Management System with daily support to all required Business programs.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily/weekly/Monthly updates on the various GE Vernova reporting platforms such as Gensuite Action Tracker Compliance Calendar ComplyWorks Training Tracker etc.
  • Ensure all information reported is correct and factual and captured on the correct system.
  • Ensure Deviations Non-Conformance Near Misses First Aid Cases Medical Treatment Cases Lost Time Injuries Security Incidents and Property Damages are accurately captured and reported on the various GE Vernova reporting platforms.
  • Ensure the Incident Register is kept up to date and the weekly/monthly statistics correlate with the incident register.
  • Record and capture weekly/monthly Environmental Health and Safety Statistical data on provided platforms.
  • Ensure personal alignment and compliance with GE Vernova and customer Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management system requirements.
  • Maintain employee medical screening register and supportive documentation retention.
  • Ensure effective management of employees onboarding documentation review and alignment with GE Vernova onboarding requirements.
  • Maintain the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management System in accordance with GE Vernova Environmental Health and Safety Management system requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Training Matrix and ensure retention of supportive documentation on the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) filing system.
  • Monitor advise and assist with EHS training requirements. Arrange training requirements.
  • Ensure Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) System files and folders are maintained and updated on the GE Vernova Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) platform provided for audit and record purposes.
  • Perform Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Induction for employees contractor employees and visitors maintain induction records.
  • Ensure that PPE stock levels are maintained and Issue employees and visitors with the required PPE.
  • Maintain the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) communication register.
  • Maintain Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) equipment inspection register (EHS equipment calibration records)
  • Assist the Regional EHS Leader in the development review and implementation of EHS system documentation aligned and in compliance with requirements of the ISO 45001 and 14001 Management System
  • General office and other duties as defined by the Regional EHS Leader.
  • Provide administrative support during Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) meetings (agenda minutes action tracking)
  • Collect and analyze safety data such as incident trends inspections and EHS performance
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) awareness campaigns toolbox talks and safety days

Required Qualifications:

  • Environmental Health and Safety Diploma or equivalent qualification with High School Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) administrative role.
  • A recognized safety certification (minimum: of 2 weeks training) (e.g. SAMTRAC / Modern SHEQ Management course).
  • Latest version of the Act and regulations of the Occupational Health and SafetyAct 85 of 1993 and Regulations Certificate; from an accredited institution.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Technique Training Certification from an accredited body
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Training Certification from an accredited body.
  • Health & Safety Auditing Training Certification from an accredited body.
  • ISO 45001 & 14001 Implementation Certification from an accredited body.
  • Registration with South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions as a Construction Health (SACPCMP) as a Safety Officer (CHSO).

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • First Aid Training (Level 2) Qualification.
  • Experience in GEV Gensuite applications and Comply Works.
  • EHS Electronic system experience for capturing statistics deviations incidents etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
  • Fire Equipment Inspector Qualification.
  • Microsoft office (Word Excel PowerPoint): Qualification
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
