Job Summary
Position Summary:
Sparta High School is seeking a Head Varsity Boys Cross Country Coach to lead and develop a competitive and positive program. The coach will support student-athletes athletic and academic growth while fostering sportsmanship teamwork and commitment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of the boys cross country program (varsity JV developmental).
Plan and implement effective in-season and off-season training.
Organize and supervise practices and competitions.
Collaborate with the Girls Varsity Coach to build a unified cross country program.
Support development of youth/middle school pipeline.
Assist in efforts to establish a home cross country course in the Sparta area.
Promote academic success and positive athlete behavior.
Communicate effectively with athletes parents and school staff.
Ensure compliance with school district and MHSAA guidelines.
Qualifications
Coaching experience in cross country and/or track & field preferred.
Experience running competitively at the high school and/or collegiate level required.
Strong knowledge of distance training principles.
Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
Must meet all district and MHSAA requirements.
Additional Details
Seasonal position (after school evenings and some weekends).
Travel required for meets.
