We have a great opportunity for a motivated mass spectrometry expert to join our Integrated Bioanalysis (IBA) team as a Senior Scientist. The role is located at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg Sweden.

About Discovery Bioanalysis:
Discovery Bioanalysis (DxBA) is a global department within Integrated Bioanalysis Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences (CPSS) supporting AstraZenecas portfolio from early discovery through clinical development. The team applies advanced analytical technologies including immunoassay quantitative LC-MS flow cytometry multi-omics and spatial biology to generate high-confidence datasets for decision-making at key project milestones. Working closely with cross-functional project-teams the group provides comprehensive support across discovery preclinical and clinical phases contributing to the advancement of therapies for complex diseases.

What youll do
As part of the Discovery Bioanalysis Team you will develop and validate bespoke mass spectrometry assays to assess pharmacokinetics and target engagement biomarkers across diverse therapeutic modalities. The role involves designing executing and transferring complex assays using advanced instrumentation to support discovery preclinical and clinical studies. You will ensure assays are fit for purpose to meet their intended context of use & will collaborate with internal and external partners reviewing and analyzing data; and troubleshooting assay performance. As a Subject Matter Expert you will be responsible for enhancing the IBA reputation for scientific excellence by presenting at internal and external meetings and publishing manuscripts.


Alongside the core laboratory role you may have the opportunity as a Discovery Bioanalytical lead to work within a dynamic cross-functional team in a matrixed environment defining and executing on tailored & focused project-specific bioanalytical strategies supporting decision-making and advancing the pipeline. You will work in close partnership with key stakeholders across the business input to project strategy and delivery managing expectations whilst interfacing with experienced and highly skilled bioanalytical scientist colleagues or our partnered labs. You will have the opportunity to influence decisions from early discovery through late-stage development and have an immediate and lasting impact to our diverse pipeline.

Essential requirements:
PhD (1 years experience) or BSc (5 years experience) in biology chemistry or related field with significant relevant experience
Proven expertise in mass spectrometry and proven track record to apply state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instrumentation to address sophisticated bioanalytical challenges related to drug discovery and development
Development validation/qualification of LC-MS assays in support of pharmacokinetic (PK) toxicokinetic (TK) Biomarker Quantification in variety of biological matrices
Deep familiarization and practical experience with protein/peptide chemistry peptide mass spectrometry and quantitative bioanalysis
Demonstrate competency in troubleshooting optimization and implementation of challenging and innovative LC-MS/MS assays


Desirable requirements:
Perform complex data analysis on acquired datasets collaborate with pharmacologists statisticians data scientists across global teams
Independently design LC-MS method development and qualification experiments for ADC constructs and novel protein biotherapeutics or protein biomarkers including but not limited to: various antibody-free and immunocapture approaches LC parameters/gradients MS acquisition settings and data processing methods.
Demonstrated knowledge and independent application of technical expertise in protein biotherapeutic DMPK including but not limited to: PK/TK study bioanalysis planning LC-MS sample analysis results interpretation guidelines for repeat sample reanalysis and PK parameters.
