Activate is a tech company known for creating Canadas first full-scale interactive gaming facility. We are experiencing significant expansion and are looking to expand our IT team with the addition of a IT Support Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology the IT Support Specialist works alongside other support team members to provide consistent high-quality front-line and intermediate technical support across corporate and store environments ensuring the reliability security and performance of IT services. This is a full-time permanent position.


The Duties and Responsibilities:


Technical Support

  • Triage troubleshoot and resolve IT incidents and service requests ensuring timely and effective resolution. Maintain accurate and complete documentation within the ITSM platform.
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis and long-term improvements.
  • Provide clear concise communication to end users throughout the support process.


User & Access Management

  • Perform onboarding offboarding and access changes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions across systems such as Microsoft 365 and other business platforms.


System & Infrastructure

  • Assist with the administration and support of core IT systems including servers endpoints and cloud services.
  • Support patching updates and general system maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on infrastructure-related tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in technical projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Support system setup validation and troubleshooting during store openings (NSO).


Hardware Networking & Asset Management

  • Support the deployment and maintenance of end-user devices networking equipment and related infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory and assist with audits.
  • Provide input into hardware and software procurement decisions.
  • Prepare configure and deploy hardware for new store openings (NSO).
  • Assist with deployment activities remotely including supporting on-site implementations and troubleshooting as required.


Security Best Practices

  • Follow and support organizational security policies and standards.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation patching and basic security tasks.
  • Model strong IT practices including proper access control and system usage.


Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to internal documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes workflows and user experience.
  • Share knowledge with team members to improve overall team capability and consistency.
  • Participate in team discussions retrospectives and operational improvements.


The Qualifications:

  • 1 years in IT support or a similar technical role. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills across hardware software and basic networking. Reliable transportation to the Winnipeg headquarters.
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills both written and verbal for supporting staff of varying technical skill levels.
  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related field or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools and structured support processes.
  • Experience supporting Linux-based server systems.
  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts (e.g. TCP/IP DNS DHCP) and/or relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA).
  • Experience supporting end-users within Microsoft 365 and Windows environments including endpoint troubleshooting and basic account/access management.
