Eligibility for SEBB medical dental vision life insurance AD&D and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave vacation leave (260-day employees only) and sick leave prorated based on FTE.
The Paraeducators primary assignment will be to support the classroom teacher during the summer program. The Paraeducator will be under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and the program director. This position is valid only for the duration of the summer school program. This opening will establish a pool of qualified candidates and is paid on a timesheet basis. This vacancy is open to current contracted Mount Vernon School District staff (substitutes not eligible).
Schedule:Mon June 22nd-Thurs July 16th. Mon-Thurs (only) 9:00-1:00p for 4 weeks
Position Responsibilities:
- Set up Go Guardian for 150 students
- Set up the spreadsheet for Attendance
- Monitor all screens during the 4 hours x 4 days x 4 weeks
- Assist the students who have issues & problem solve
- Communicate with students & the Lead
Experience and
Training Needed:
Current contracted Mount Vernon School District Staff
At a minimum AA degree or higher or two years of college (72 quarter credits) or ability to meet State-determined performance standards in reading math and writing (i.e. para-educator assessment).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Willingness and ability to supervise students in off-campus activities.
Willingness to assist teachers in an interdisciplinary project-based instructional format (for grades 5 and up) with the goal of increasing student engagement in summer school.
Sensitivity towards children; ability to promote a childs self-concept.
Ability and willingness to work with students from various backgrounds.
Organization skills and flexibility to respond to changing student needs.
Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students including the monitoring and disciplining of student activities.
Must be able to function in a calm efficient courteous manner under stress and to exercise careful judgment confidentiality and tact in the performance duties.
Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions and be able to work independently.
Valid First Aid certificate and CPR training may be required
Must maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified under contract.
Must professionally interact with culturally diverse students staff and members of the public.
Must establish professional and ongoing contacts with students.
Must comply with all district policies and comply with the code of professional conduct.
