SUMMARY:

Responsible for on-site leadershipmaintaining repairing and installingelectrical systems services and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures in district facilities.

MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Maintenance and Repair

  • Assign work to craft personnel and oversee completion. Initiate contract repair when work cannot be performed by district staff.
  • Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures power equipment control and distribution apparatus and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits systems and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
  • Install and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blueprints.
  • Measure assemble and install electricalconduitusing measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances including commercial ovens ranges steam tables washers and dryers.
  • Receive and complete work ordersin a timely manner. Select material and hardware and calculate time andmaterialsestimates. Maintainaccuraterecords on material and labor used.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools equipment and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.

Safety

  • Provide training and orientation to all skilled workers in safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions inthe work area and promptly report any conditions that are notimmediatelycorrectable to thesupervisor.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operatingcondition.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Inventory and Equipment

  • Prepare implement andmaintainpreventive maintenance schedules for tools and equipment. Ensure maintenance is completed and equipment is in safe operating condition. Recommend replacement of existing equipment when necessary.
  • Conduct regular inventory of physical equipment and supplies andmaintainaccuraterecords. Order tools equipment and supplies as needed.

Policyand Law

  • Respondto after-hoursemergency calls as needed.
  • Assistin the preparation ofthedepartment budget.
  • Assistin recruiting screeningselection training and evaluation of maintenance employees.
  • Maintainaccurateinformation for payroll reporting (timecards tardiness and absenteeism).
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
  • Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive courteous and respectful.
  • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
  • Comply withall policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply withthe Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diplomaor Equivalent
  • Valid Texas Drivers License with a clear record of safe driving
  • Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) journeyman electrician license

Experience:

  • Four(4) yearsofsuccessful experienceintheelectricalfield
  • Public school experience preferred

SPECIALKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits wiringand operating principles of motors
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and ordinances
  • Ability to read blueprints schematics and written reference material
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor the work and issue work assignments tothe electricians.
