Sugar Creek Charter Schools mission is to eradicate generational poverty by providing a rigorous college and career preparatory education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade with a focus on academic achievement college and career readiness and life skills for success.
We are seeking a mission-aligned passionate and dedicated High School French Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and immersive language-learning environment implement rigorous and differentiated instruction and support the academic and social-emotional growth of all students while fostering global awareness and cultural appreciation.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Management:
- Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans that promote proficiency in reading writing speaking and listening in French.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies including immersive and communicative approaches to support language acquisition.
- Incorporate cultural components to deepen students understanding of French-speaking countries and global perspectives.
- Use data-driven instruction to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Establish a structured and positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement risk-taking and collaboration.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners including heritage speakers advanced learners and students needing additional support.
- Integrate technology and authentic resources to enhance language learning experiences.
Student Support & Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to support student well-being.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Ensure student safety at all times through consistent supervision and adherence to school-wide expectations and procedures.
Collaboration & Professional Growth:
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by seeking and applying feedback to improve instructional practices.
- Participate in collaborative planning and coaching sessions with curriculum leaders.
- Work closely with colleagues instructional coaches and support staff to enhance student outcomes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and pursue continuous growth opportunities.
- Contribute to the school community through team meetings committees and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in French Education or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina (required).
- Experience teaching high school French or world languages (preferred but not required).
- Strong classroom management skills and commitment to high expectations for all students.
- Passion for urban education and a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
