POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary responsibility is to build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials at the most competitive prices. This supports both production schedules and inventory goals. Key activities include negotiating pricing establishing Short Term and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with suppliers and implementing inventory stocking programs. The role requires the use of discretion and independent judgment in making financial decisions.

- Develops and executes sourcing strategies that align with end-to-end supply chain objectives focusing on quality cost and delivery performance.
- Negotiates and manages supplier Short-Term and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) contracts price books volume purchasing agreements and inventory stocking programs.
- Initiates Requests for Quotation (RFQs) evaluates supplier bids and collaborates with the Materials Manager to finalize pricing and implement agreements.
- Ensures material availability to meet the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and monthly shipment plans in accordance with purchasing policies and procedures.
- Manages supplier relationships including risk assessments business reviews and readiness evaluations for assigned suppliers.
- Identifies alternative sourcing options and product substitutes to reduce costs and mitigate inventory risk. Partners with Engineering and Quality teams on new product designs cost analyses and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Maintains and analyzes purchasing master data (e.g. lead times pricing suppliers safety stock order minimums) in the ERP system to ensure accurate Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Leads initiatives to improve material flow through strategies such as kanban vendor-managed inventory and consignment programs.
- Investigates and resolves receiving and invoicing discrepancies.
- Collaborates with Quality to address supplier rejections ensuring timely and effective corrective actions. Reviews technical drawings and documentation with Engineering and Quality to ensure supplier understanding and compliance with the latest specifications.
- Approves Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for assigned commodities. Identifies impacted materials coordinates rework or scrap decisions and evaluates cost impacts.
- Manages the disposition of non-conforming materials by coordinating returns (RMA) replacements and reimbursement for rework or scrap with Engineering Quality and suppliers.
- Prepares reports and action plans tracks and analyzes Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and maintains relevant procurement metrics.
- Identifies best-value suppliers develops sourcing plans for new product introductions (NPI) and optimizes lead times and total landed cost.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering and Operations to support NPI resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
- Develops and manages vendor scorecards; performs supply risk assessments and supports cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ensures accuracy of purchase orders and monitors procurement data for continuous improvement.
- Executes MRP-driven planning for production parts including timely creation of work orders and requisitions for both make and buy items.
- Manages inventory levels for product lines by determining optimal order quantities lead times and warehouse capacity.
- Coordinates scheduling changes and production priorities with key stakeholders to maintain efficient operations.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
To perform this job successfully the applicable candidate must be a team player and able to make decisions under pressure with a cross functional team of individuals. The additional requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
- Bachelors degree in supply chain or business management strongly preferred or equivalent experience in similar discipline.
- Two plus years experience managing external suppliers
- P.M. and/or APICS certification preferred.
- Experience with Tableau and SQL.
- Minimum four (4) years procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with MRP systems
- Excellent MS office software (Excel Word Outlook)
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and individually handling multiple priorities simultaneously developing and executing effective action plans.
- Ability to read engineering drawings preferred
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and recommend and implement resolution. Develop standards as needed manage processes analyze information and problem solving and decision making. Analyzing information and process improvement is a must as well as attention to detail.
