We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Librarian to join a flourishing secondary school in York. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about reading literacy and supporting students in developing a lifelong love of learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school library ensuring it is a welcoming well-organised and inspiring environment for students. You will promote reading across the school support literacy initiatives and work closely with staff to enhance students access to high-quality resources.
You will also play a key role in supporting students with research skills helping them to access information effectively and develop independent learning habits. Strong organisational skills and a passion for education are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage and organise the school library and resources
Promote reading and literacy across the school
Support students with research and independent study
Maintain and update library systems and catalogues
Organise events and initiatives to encourage reading
Work collaboratively with teaching staff
Requirements:
Experience working in a library or educational setting (desirable)
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Passion for reading and literacy development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage and inspire students
IT literacy and experience with library systems (desirable)
