At Amazon the Last Mile Technology group is responsible for envisioning and developing initiatives in delivering packages to our customers as fast and as cost effectively as possible at the quality that our customers expect. We own the software that enables Amazon delivery drivers worldwide to check-in at an Amazon warehouse get work/routes assigned and enables the pickup of hundreds of thousands of packages on a daily basis. We focus on building highly scalable mission critical systems that power these experiences; as well as the mobile application workflows that enable the experience; and innovate with interesting technologies along the way.
Our mobile application works in concert with our advanced logistics systems and technology. These technologies allow delivery partners to onboard schedule delivery times in advance or on-demand and be guided through their deliveries with in-app mapping navigation and much more. Our ability to engage with support and provide a world-class experience to both customers and our delivery partners has become more critical as we continue to expand the number of active delivery partners and target faster deliveries to our customers.
Being part of a customer obsessed company and working as part of this team youll be responsible for the design development test and deployment of a range of products that make it possible to deliver packages to customers in two hours or less all over the world. You will have an opportunity to conceptualize design build test and own software systems. You will influence the technical direction of the team work with many different technologies. Key job responsibilities
A Sr. engineer in the UTRX organization is a technical leader that drives the execution of programs within the organization sets the technical bar and works with other engineers to delivery roadmaps. Sr. SDEs in the UTRX organization are familiar with Last Mile core systems and influence software architecture decisions across teams and organization. They closely collaborate with mobile engineers and UX designers in defining mobile experiences that delight Amazon delivery drivers.
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelors degree
- 5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
