Job Summary
The Director of Information Technology (IT) provides strategic leadership operational oversight and technical direction for the organizations technology infrastructure systems and security. This role ensures that all IT services are secure reliable and aligned with the organizations mission and goals. The Director is responsible for managing the IT department including budget Managed Service Provider (MSP) vendor and vendor-related contracts to support daily operations and long-term organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technology Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy roadmap and policies aligned with the organizations goals.
- Identify emerging technology trends and opportunities for modernization process improvement and automation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology investments infrastructure improvements and opportunities for operational efficiency automation and digital innovation.
- Establish and enforce IT policies to ensure data integrity security and compliance with regulations.
- Lead CADCA in the further adoption of AI tools and additional integration of AI into the daily operation of the organization.
- Operations and Infrastructure Management
- Oversee daily IT operations including outsourced MSP and all IT hardware.
- Manage technology platforms including association management system event management system learning management system donation platform website creation and management CADCA App for annual meetings and cloud platforms (e.g. Office 365 Azure).
- Ensure high availability performance and security of all systems and data.
- Maintain monitor and update technology hardware inventories and equipment.
- Develop implement and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Lead system upgrades data migrations and product evaluations.
- Oversee data analytics and system integration tools and recommend improvements as needed.
- Cybersecurity and Data Governance
- Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities to protect organizational data.
- Establish and enforce security protocols including firewalls encryption and access controls.
- Facilitate IT security audits and investigations.
- Establish organizationwide data governance data quality controls and integration standards including as related to AI usage.
- Team Leadership and Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors service providers and consultants.
- Negotiate licensing agreements and service contracts to optimize costs.
- Collaborate with department leaders to understand IT requirements and implement solutions accordingly.
- Budgeting and Project Management
- Develop and manage the annual IT department budget tracking expenditures and identifying cost savings.
- Manage IT projects ensuring they are completed on time within scope and on budget.
- Support fundraising and program staff by providing efficient CRM and database management.
- Staff Training
- Oversee enduser training for new systems and technology rollouts.
- Ensure helpdesk provides highquality support to staff and volunteers.
- Promote a culture of technology adoption digital literacy and Continuous Improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education:Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field masters degree preferred.
- Experience:8 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Technical Skills:Strong knowledge of network architecture cloud computing (AWS/Azure) system administration and security protocols.
- Non-Profit Tech:Experience with donor management systems membership management systems meeting registration systems training management systems
- Leadership:Proven ability to lead a team manage projects and communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Core Competencies:Strategic planning budget management risk management and vendor negotiations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP CISM PMP ITIL CCNA).
- Experience with IT regulatory requirements.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit for extended periods work at a computer and occasionally lift carry or move hardware up to 20-50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Monday Friday; 8:30am 5:30pm in Alexandria office
- Travel includes CADCAs annual events: Drug Free Kids Campaign Dinner Mid-Year Training Institute and the National Leadership Forum
