Job Description
As the Fabricator / Painter you will be responsible for delivering high quality coated and finished components that meet stringent aerospace specifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Apply finish protective coatings using spray guns or brushes both air dry and baked.
- Operate sandblasting and tumble blast equipment to remove scale corrosion and contaminants.
- Mix thin and apply paints lacquers and enamels to meet color and performance standards.
- Set up and run spray painting equipment monitoring viscosity and ensuring consistent coverage.
- Clean and prepare parts including electro plating cleaning and surface inspections.
Required Experience:
- Candidates must have at least 5 years experience as painter or fabricator.
- Candidates must have 1 3 years of hands on experience applying protective coatings (polyurethane epoxy or CARC) on metal composites or similar substrates.
- Candidates must have 1 3 years of hands on experience applying finish protective coatings spray guns and/or brushes operates spray painting equip optical bonding fabrication injection molding machines ablative processing equipment tape-wrapper autoclaves bonding mixes paints lacquers.
- Candidates must have 1 3 years of hands on experience with surface preparation (abrasive blasting sanding degreasing solvent cleaning profile measurement etc.)
- Candidates must have ability to read and follow SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) standards such as SSPC Sand 5 or SSPC P2.
- Candidates must have experience with the following:
- Coating selection & application: Understanding the properties cure schedules thickness tolerances and environmental limits (temperature humidity) for polyurethane epoxy and CARC systems.
- Thickness measurement: Proficiency with dry film thickness gauges (micrometers or ultrasonic gauges) and ability to interpret results against specifications.
- Mixing & handling: Correctly mixing two part systems measuring ratios and managing pot life and viscosity.
- Spray equipment operation: Experience with HVLP air assist or airless spray rigs including maintenance and troubleshooting.
Desired Skills
Technical school training in auto painting precision masking/cutting operations.
