Job Summary

Summary

Laboratory assistant needed to assist with the initial steps of preparing clinical specimens for laboratory testing. This position will report to the Center for Clinical Toxicology and Laboratory Supports Specimen Processing Unit and be crossed-trained in the Rhode Island State Health Laboratories Central Services Units.

Responsibilities

  • Handling and labeling of environmental sampling submissions
  • Data entry of clinical and environmental sampling submissions in addition to the preparation of clinical and environmental collection supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effectively and efficiently respond to mail telephone and personal inquiries
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum education required: High School diploma
  • Past office experience required
  • Experience using a computer
    • Candidates must be current on Hepatitis B vaccination and able to produce documentation stating such.

Shift: This position is for a shift from 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Position will be onsite at the State Health Laboratories 150 Richmond St. Providence.

Notes: Candidates must be current on Hepatitis B vaccination and able to produce documentation stating such. They would need to provide medical records to the vendor as well as RIDOH HR with a recent titer check to verify vaccination.
