A. Job Summary:
The Coastal Engineering Contracts Administrator is responsible for managing and administering all contractual aspects of coastal and marine engineering projects. This includes pre- and post-award contract administration ensuring compliance with project requirements coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and supporting commercial and legal matters related to project execution.
B. Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Administration
a. Assist in the preparation review and administration of engineering and construction contracts (FIDIC NEC bespoke).
b. Ensure all contractual requirements are implemented in accordance with company and project procedures.
c. Maintain contract documentation registers variation logs and correspondence records.
2. Cost & Commercial Support
a. Assist in preparing interim payment applications valuations and final accounts.
b. Monitor contract budgets track expenditures and support cost control processes.
c. Assist in the preparation and evaluation of variation orders claims and extensions of time (EOT).
3. Procurement and Subcontracts
a. Support procurement activities including the preparation of tender documentation for subcontractors and suppliers.
b. Review and evaluate bids and participate in negotiations when required.
c. Administer subcontracts including scope changes payments and close-outs.
4. Coordination and Communication
a. Liaise with project engineers planners quantity surveyors and the legal team for contract-related matters.
b. Coordinate with clients consultants and subcontractors regarding contract compliance and change management.
c. Support progress reporting and attend commercial/contractual meetings.
5. Risk and Compliance
a. Identify and escalate contractual risks and assist in implementing mitigation strategies.
b. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations company policies and contract terms.
c. Assist in audits and ensure proper documentation for internal and external reviews.
C. Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Quantity Surveying Construction Management or related field.
2. At least 35 years experience in contract administration preferably in coastal marine or infrastructure projects.
3. Familiarity with FIDIC or similar standard forms of contract.
4. Strong understanding of project cost control variation management and contract law basics.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in ERP/contract management systems is an advantage.
6. Excellent communication negotiation and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment.
