Alberta Health Services (AHS) Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Hospital Medical Director (HMD) - Leduc Community Hospital (LCH).
This 0.20 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules reports to the Associate Corridor Medical Lead (ACML) Suburban Hospitals. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The Hospital Medical Director Leduc Community Hospital works collaboratively with the LCH site operational lead and with clinical and operational leaders to provide clinical oversight for the LCH site. The Hospital Medical Director and the Senior Operating Officer of LCH will maintain a close working relationship and will be jointly accountable to provide integrated leadership for the LCH site.
This position is accountable for but not limited to providing senior medical leadership support for the Department Facility Chiefs (Site Chiefs) within their portfolio; the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership consultation support and coaching to the site medical staff; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and advocating for the provision of overall quality patient safety and patient care. This position is also responsible for recruitment and performance management of Department Facility Chiefs at the LCH in collaboration with Corridor Clinical Department Leads.
The position has an expected start date of August 1 22025 and an expected term of 3 years.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication conflict resolution and negotiation. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent eligible to work in Canada and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
