TITLE: Elementary Art Teacher
LOCATION: Ogden Community Schools Ogden Iowa
REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal
POSITION PURPOSE / BASIC FUNCTION:
Ogden Community School District is seeking an Elementary Art Teacher for grades Kï½5 for the 2026-27 school year. Under the general supervision of the School Principal the Elementary Art Teacher facilitates student success and growth in artistic expression creativity and visual literacy. This position implements district-approved art curriculum aligned to Iowa Core and Fine Arts Standards; documents student progress; addresses the diverse learning needs of students; and creates a flexible safe and engaging learning environment.
The Elementary Art Teacher provides instruction in a variety of artistic techniques and media fosters creativity and critical thinking and supports the development of students academic social and interpersonal skills. The teacher communicates regularly with students parents and administration regarding student progress expectations and goals consistent with Ogden Community School District standards and Iowa educational requirements.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements Kï½5 art curriculum aligned with district goals and Iowa Core/Fine Arts Standards
- Plans and delivers engaging lessons using a variety of instructional strategies media and techniques
- Prepares and maintains a course of study for elementary art instruction
- Creates a classroom environment that encourages creativity respect and active participation
- Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse needs interests and abilities of students
- Utilizes effective classroom management strategies and demonstrates understanding of PBIS practices
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and adjusts instruction accordingly
- Maintains accurate records of student progress achievement and behavior
- Communicates effectively with parents/guardians regarding student growth successes and concerns
- Encourages student appreciation of art and cultural diversity through visual arts education
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and staff to support cross-curricular connections
- Participates in faculty meetings professional learning communities (PLCs) and district initiatives
- Selects requisitions and maintains art supplies materials and equipment
- Supervises students during instructional and non-instructional times as assigned
- Engages in continuous professional development through workshops conferences and trainings
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent

Qualifications Profile:
Certification/Licensure:
Valid Iowa Teaching License with an Art endorsement (Kï½8 or appropriate grade-level endorsement) issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE)
Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Art Education or related field
Masters degree in a related area preferred
Experience:
Previous elementary art teaching experience preferred
Terms of Employment:
Contract Length: As established by the Ogden Community School District teacher contract
Salary and Benefits: In accordance with the negotiated master contract
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with federal and state law board policy and the preceding job description.
