Job Summary
POSITION TITLE: Long Term Substitute Teacher- 3rd Grade ELA/Writing @ Spero Upper
FLSA: Exempt Professional
REPORTS TO: Site Leader
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Daily contracted services for the current school year.
Position Overview
Santa Fe South Schools is seeking a dedicated Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide consistent high-quality instruction and classroom leadership during the extended absence of a regular this critical role you will carry out lesson plans maintain a positive and engaging learning environment and ensure continuity in students academic experience. Ideal candidates are adaptable student-focused and ready to contribute meaningfully to our school community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum HS Diploma or GED (Bachelors degree or teaching certificate preferred)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with students and collaborate with staff
- Commitment to the values and mission of Santa Fe South Schools
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and deliver daily instructional plans in alignment with district curriculum and teacher guidance
- Monitor student progress provide feedback and maintain classroom routines and expectations
- Foster a safe respectful and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning
- Collaborate with grade-level or subject-area teams administrators and families as needed
- Maintain accurate attendance and records in accordance with district policy
- Manage classroom transitions student behavior and instructional pacing
- Participate in school-based duties such as planning time parent communication (if needed) and team meetings
- Uphold all school policies FERPA guidelines and emergency procedures (e.g. fire drills lockdowns)
- Provide end-of-day notes and updates for the returning teacher including any concerns or highlights

- Serve consistently for the full term of the long-term assignment supporting classroom continuity
- Be proactive in learning school norms resources and support systems
- Remain flexible and responsive to student needs and school expectations
