AECOM is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Document Controller to support project delivery through effective document management and project controls. The role is responsible for the receipt inventory audit tracking storage retrieval and distribution of both classified and unclassified project data across electronic paper and other media formats. The Document Controller ensures all documentation is managed in accordance with company policies procedures and project requirements.
The position is affiliated to Transportation and based at the A19 DBFO Site Office in Billingham.
The A19/A168 Dishforth to Tyne Tunnel Trunk Road is a vital north-south route linking the Industrial areas of Tyneside Wearside and Teesside to the rest of the Country. The route comprising 585 lane-km of carriageway and 217 structures is of major importance to the economy of north-east England and the A19 DBFO Team is responsible for keeping traffic flowing safely and minimising delays and disruption. The project is managed by a collaborative team comprising National Highways Autolink Sir Robert McAlpine and AECOM with support from our supply chain partners.
The Project is currently serviced through a 30 year Contract between the Secretary of State and Autolink Concessionaires. The Contract period is 25/2/1997 to 24/2/2027. Following expiry of the Contract the A19 will be maintained by National Highways Area 14 team. TUPE will apply and this Document Control role will be eligible to be employed by NH or their Supply Chain or continue with AECOM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full lifecycle of project documentation including receipt logging distribution filing and archiving.
- Maintain accurate document control systems for multiple projects and project managers.
- Ensure all documents (electronic and hard copy) are correctly classified indexed and stored for easy retrieval.
- Track and monitor document revisions approvals and workflows to maintain version control.
- Conduct regular audits of documentation to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance.
- Coordinate the secure handling of both classified and unclassified information.
- Support project teams by providing timely access to documentation and reports.
- Ensure document control processes comply with AECOM policies industry standards and project-specific procedures.
- Assist in the setup and continuous improvement of document management systems and processes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient document exchange and communication.
- The present Contract needs to be handed back to National Highways and the Document Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all of the Contract Completion conditions relating to the document control are met and handed back to National Highways.

- Ensure all document control activities adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with local regulations industry standards and project requirements.
- Promote best practices in records management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications :
