ABOUT US

Our Sports Media Team is seeking a passionate Staff Software Engineer who loves to solve problems build cloud native solutions and excels on cross-functional teams of talented peers.
 
What does the Sports Media Team work on

We work with exclusive data rights for top leagues such as MLB NBA NHL and NASCAR giving us direct access to instadium data including player and optical tracking. For other leagues like the NFL NCAA and global sports we build tooling for our extensive scouting network.

Our systems power the fastest and most accurate live game data in the market supporting billions of API calls monthly and enabling global partners like Apple Google Amazon Facebook The Score and Bleacher Report to build exceptional fan experiences.

Our analytics and broadcast solutions also help storytellers at Fox Sports Bally Sports CBS Sports NBC Sports and more deliver the narratives statistics and graphics seen by millions during major sporting events from the World Series to the Super Bowl.

THE CHALLANGE

Technical Leadership

• Lead design and architecture for major systems or product areas across multiple teams
• Guide engineers in making highquality technical decisions and establish standards for reliability performance and scalability
• Evaluate and introduce technologies that improve system design and developer productivity

System Architecture & Delivery

• Drive multiteam multiquarter technical initiatives from planning through execution
• Architect distributed highavailability cloudnative systems that operate at global scale
• Partner with other engineering leaders to ensure architectural alignment across the organization

CrossFunctional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product and Engineering Managers to shape technical roadmaps
• Break down complex requirements into achievable technical plans and ensure successful delivery
• Communicate architectural decisions clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders

Mentorship & Influence

• Mentor Senior Engineers and grow emerging technical leaders
• Create a culture of craftsmanship operational excellence and continuous improvement
• Provide thoughtful code reviews and guide teams toward longterm sustainability

Operational Excellence

• Identify systemic issues affecting reliability scalability and performance and lead efforts to resolve them
• Improve team and orgwide engineering practices patterns and tooling
• Encourage and model best practices including AIassisted development workflows

ABOUT YOU

• 8 years of professional software engineering experience including largescale production systems
• Deep expertise in distributed systems cloudnative architectures and highthroughput services
• Strong architectural skills with the ability to design for scale reliability and maintainability
• Proven ability to lead crossteam initiatives and drive results across multiple contributors
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines and leadership levels
• Experience mentoring Engineers
• Strong knowledge of one or more areas of our stack (JavaScript/TypeScript React AWS eventdriven architectures SQL/NoSQL databases GraphQL)
• Experience contributing to or defining engineering standards patterns or best practices

Bonus:

• Experience with AWS serverless
• Experience designing highperformance realtime data pipelines
• Familiarity with Apollo Federation GraphQL or largescale developer API ecosystems
• Experience building or maintaining missioncritical systems for media streaming or data platforms
• Familiarity with using AI tools (Cursor GitHub Copilot) in engineering workflows
