Role Summary:
The Application Operation Services & Quality Engineering (AOSQE) team is a part of the larger Digital Business & Technology Solutions team. Working better together. Our teams provide the services and technology our business partners need to help clients achieve lifetime financial partner closely with groups and individuals throughout Sun Life Financial to provide products and services that deliver business innovation and collaboration were striving to continually find new and better ways to bring value to Sun Life.
As a member of the AOSQE the Senior Software Quality Engineering Specialist will be responsible for the quality of deliverables by meticulously reviewing functional requirements and conducting thorough testing activities. Working within an Agile development team you will help guide the planning and execution of test strategies/plans related to system and functional testing. This role will help drive Sun Lifes Health team by providing expertise and leadership in the quality engineering best practices in the mainframe chapter.
Main Accountabilities:
Responsible for analysis of complex business requirements and create test strategy/plan to ensure thorough coverage
Design develop detailed test cases to thoroughly test complex use cases and scenarios covering functional requirements
Execute manual and/or automated test cases to validate business application logic and identify software defects
Collaborate within cross-functional agile team on shift-left testing and automation reuse
Document and track product defects providing detailed reproduction steps expected and actual results
Champion and advocate automation and quality engineering best practices within the Agile team
Provide timely and effective communication to management relating to quality resource and project issues & concerns.
Navigate effectively through complex challenges involving others to solve problems and achieve goals
Competencies:
Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience leading large/complex multi-discipline initiatives
Strong experience in execution of both manual and automated test cases ensuring thorough validation of business application logic against defined requirements
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and work collaboratively with cross functional team members to analyze and resolve issues
Experience in functional non-functional regression integration and end-to-end testing of Mainframe and front-end applications
Hands on automation experience in test automation frameworks and tools like Tosca ReadyAPI Python
Solid level of proficiency in Excel and strong numerical analysis acumen
Demonstrated adoption of automation built maintained and/or managed regression models
Demonstrated use of Generative AI for testing and maximizing efficiencies
Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodologies DevOps shift-left and in-sprint testing CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jira/Confluence qTest
Proficient in IMS DB2 and SQL query concepts
Excellent communications skills able to convey complex technical concepts to business partners
High attention to detail strong analytical skills quick learner and autonomous
Experience in financial accounting and insurance industry an asset
CSTE certification (or equivalent) is an asset
