Job Summary

Your Opportunity:

The Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist III (CSRT III) role allows a pathway for Advanced Practice Radiation Therapy (APRT) competency development and certification. To become a highly competent practitioner with advanced knowledge skills and judgment permitting autonomous clinical practice in the management of cancer patients the individual will work towards APRT certification under the mentorship of a Radiation Oncologists(s). As a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team the CSRT III is responsible to provide comprehensive assessment and referral of patients within and external to Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) as well as technical evaluation of all aspects of treatment delivery with a focus on ensuring continuity of care from consult to follow up within a mentored environment. Accountability and responsibility in the role include contributing to high-quality clinical and technical practice education research innovation and leadership activities and initiatives that promote the attainment of APRT competencies while supporting the multidisciplinary team within the radiation therapist full clinical practice scope. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizations skills to collaborate with members of the Cancer Care team promoting process improvement research education and other strategic goals of the program. The CSRT III must access appropriate academic resources and be willing to work towards Advance Practice Registered Technologist (Radiation Therapy) APRT(T) certification with the CAMRT. Additional didactic activities and research project opportunities will be supported to allow the CSRT III to provide evidence of experience-based learning and submit the requisite case study submissions to qualify for APRT(T) certification.

Description:

As a Radiation Therapist III you will be responsible for the initiation coordination collaboration development and revision of processes within your department of Radiation Oncology. These processes include: the review and opening of clinical trials patient accruals active treatments Quality Assurance reviews and technical data submissions. You will have direct supervision over Radiation Therapist Is & IIs and will be their first point of contact when assistance is required for problem solving complex set ups troubleshooting errors and general equipment addition you will be responsible for attending and providing in-services and training as required to ensure excellent facilitation of clinical studies in the department of Radiation Oncology.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy in Canada; or an accredited non-Canadian or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrates in depth experience and knowledge of radiation therapy indications technical knowledge of radiation therapy and treatment planning oncology physics radiobiology and anatomy. Pursing or completion of a Masters degree in a healthcare or related discipline; completion of Masters degree is required to obtain your APRT certification. Minimum of 5 years of progressive practice experience as a Radiation Therapist. Proven Leadership experience interpersonal and team-based skills and the ability to work independently with minimum direction. Basic Life Support (BLS).
