Job Description:
Provides medication management services in coordination with other health care professionals to deliver safe appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy to patients. Responsibilities may include assessment of medication therapy regimens medication therapy management medication order verification/entry medication distribution medication therapy monitoring and consultation documentation of medication therapy plans and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services. Participates in collaborative practice and/or protocol-driven practice as appropriate. Additionally pharmacists are active members in quality improvement research activities and education as described in the job specific competencies.
The Mayo Clinic Department of Pharmacy has a dedicated ambition for creating a patient-centered integrated care model to advance the Mayo Clinics Bold. Forward. strategy with focus on People and Culture Practice Innovation Care Team Evolution Discoveries and stride with these goals in 2023 alone our department reached over 200 scientific publication outputs and over 80 active quality improvement projects with the Mayo Clinic Quality Academy. Nearly 250 pharmacy staff attained academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and are being increasingly recognized on regional national and international stages. Our departments pharmacy residency has been accredited by ASHP since 1973. It has grown to become the primary training site for 21 pharmacy residents including 15 various specialty residencies 12 longitudinal local pharmacy students and 9 pharmacy summer interns from around the country. Our staff also regularly interface with and educate medical trainees including physician residents and fellows.
This 1.0 FTE pharmacist position supports inpatient neurology and psychiatry patients at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Marys Campus in Rochester this role the pharmacist will function as a member of the multidisciplinary team with a greater responsibility within neurology and neurosurgery areas. The schedule consists of a mix of day and evening shifts and every 3rd weekend rotational model.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Previous experience including PGY1 residency plus 1 year experience in neurology clinical practice or equivalent experience of 3 years in neurology clinical practice; PGY2 psychiatry residency or equivalent experience of 3 years in psychiatry clinical practice
- Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement publications or scientific presentations
- Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment
- Experience in teaching and/or precepting
License or certification:
- State Licenses Required: Minnesota Pharmacist license by the MN Board of Pharmacy or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the sites applicable employee licensure policy. (May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.)
- Preferred Certification: BCPS or BCPP within one year of hire if not already present
