Title: Bag Screening Attendant
| Reports To: Vice President for Site Operations Associate Vice President for Security Director ofSecurity-Events& Exhibitions Supervisors and Patrol Supervisors |
Position Summary Bag Screening Attendants serve as the first point of contact for visitors entering the Garden. They conduct safe efficient and customer serviceoriented bag inspectionsin accordance withGarden policies and security best practices. Attendants mustmaintaina professional demeanor effectively communicate policies and appropriately escalate concerns.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities - Greet all visitors courteously and provide clear instructions on bag screening procedures.
- Conduct visual and physical inspections of bags packages strollers and other personal items.
- Identify and manage prohibited items per Garden procedures.
- Maintain situational awareness and report suspicious behavior immediately.
- Use deescalation techniques during conflicts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of screening areas.
- Operate handheld metal detectors or other issued screening equipment.
- Assist with crowd control during peak visitation and special events.

Qualifications - Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Drivers License.
- Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services.
- Must have a minimum of two years full time experience in security or related work.
- In possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

Physical Demand & Work Environment - Ability to move up to 25 pounds and lift overhead stand for long periods of time work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
|
Work Schedule - This is a temporary part-time position scheduled Friday through Sunday plus one assigned weekday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
