What youll be doing


As a Senior Consultant Governance Risk and Control you will join Employee Technology Services (ETS) and play a critical role in supporting Project Sunrise and CIBC India. You will provide subject matter expertise in governance risk and control contributing to the design implementation and ongoing management of technology controls across infrastructure services. This role will focus on ensuring alignment with enterprise standards regulatory requirements and internal audit expectations while supporting a rapidly evolving global technology landscape. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to assess risks strengthen control environments and enhance operational resilience. Through your work you will help safeguard CIBCs reputation and ensure sustainable compliant growth across international operations.

How youll succeed

  • Understanding Regulatory and Industry Best Practices - You will apply strong knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry frameworks to ensure compliance with internal and external standards. This includes aligning with enterprise governance policies audit requirements and evolving regulatory demands across global operations. Your ability to interpret and operationalize these standards will be key to success.
  • Strengthening Risk Mitigation and Control Environments - You will proactively identify assess and mitigate risks across infrastructure technology services. By evaluating current control environments and recommending enhancements you will help reduce vulnerabilities and ensure strong auditable processes that support regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
    Driving Governance Across Technology Services - You will support the implementation and continuous improvement of governance frameworks across ETS platforms and services. This includes aligning controls with enterprise standards and ensuring consistency across both Canada and India operations particularly as services scale globally.
  • Supporting Vulnerability Patch and Risk Processes - You will collaborate with platform and service teams to understand and strengthen processes such as vulnerability management patching and system hardening (SHR). While not hands-on technical your conceptual understanding will enable effective oversight and governance of these critical areas.
  • Partnering with Stakeholders and Control Functions - You will work closely with senior stakeholders including Directors Senior Directors and governance partners across ETS Internal Audit and risk functions. Your ability to influence communicate and align stakeholders will be critical in ensuring adherence to governance standards.
  • Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Strategic Delivery - You will identify opportunities to streamline processes improve control effectiveness and support strategic initiatives under Project Sunrise. Your contributions will help embed governance and control considerations early ensuring long-term sustainability and efficiency.


Who you are

  • You can demonstrate 5-6 years of experience in governance risk and control within a technology or financial services environment. You have strong knowledge of regulatory compliance internal audit processes and enterprise control frameworks. You bring experience working within infrastructure technology environments with exposure to areas such as vulnerability management patching or operational risk. You have the ability to interpret and apply governance frameworks within complex fast-paced and regulated environments. You are a strong communicator with experience engaging senior stakeholders across business and technology teams. Its an asset if you have experience with frameworks such as COBIT NIST ITIL or regulatory standards (e.g. OSFI PCI-DSS).
