Job Summary
Position Summary:The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day management administration and reporting of all distribution activities including but not limited to planning scheduling delivery inventory accuracy business metrics and safety related functions. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated and customer-focused individual who will ensure the highest standards of safety service and ResponsibilitiesPromote a positive working the team by providing clear communication motivation coaching and correcting as performance plans are set maintained and continuously and coordinate daily activities and schedules as well as plan staffing levels based on business across departments to drive optimal and track effectiveness and efficiency of ResponsibilitiesSafety & Warehouse Operations:Ensure adherence to provincial and Company safety policies and perform regular management safety for yard equipment and fleet safety including cleanliness maintenance and in loading and unloading trucks driving a forklift and receiving stock (if necessary).Dispatch & Delivery:Responsible for full-cycle delivery management and open and clear lines of communication with customers and proactively inform them of any delivery of inbound and outbound & Purchasing:Maintain appropriate inventory levels in the yard controlling shrinkage and damaged inventory counting and close-out the financial operations of volume-buying and Service & Efficiency:Oversee customer service and store management and maintain service internal reports processes and procedures to help provide superior customer perform audits on yard activities and performance and then investigate and resolve and QualificationsA 4 year-degree preferably or equivalent work of 5 years of experience in shipping warehouse operations and/ or transportation teamsProven ability to work in a team team player and leader with strong communication skills (verbal written and interpersonal)Experience in and knowledge of the construction industry and building materials is skills and advanced knowledge of computer systems and degree of reading writing numeracy and oral communication skills (speak read and write in empathy and understanding when dealing with employee issues.A positive can-do attitude is Health benefits - including drug coverage practitioner dental vision disability and life savings (pension or other) are -Company discounts (mobile phone gym membership etc.) training programs and opportunities for career advancement group events and moreIf you feel we are a good fit for your career goals and skillset we invite you to apply and look forward to reviewing your part of the GMS Inc. family of companies you can launch your career with a North American building materials distributor and discover opportunities for growth and value our team members and believe them to be our greatest assets.
