JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Occupational Therapist-Long Term Sub (Bishop Elementary School)
Job Goal: The Occupational Therapist will provide services to individual and small groups of students as well as whole class instruction. This is a long term substitute position (Mid-May - June 25 2026)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree Masters Degree preferred
- Massachusetts Licensure as Occupational Therapist
- Current in Evaluation and Service Standards in the field of Occupational Therapy
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluation and/or delivery of services to students both within the Arlington Public School buildings and at outside programs and residences where Arlington children receive the service as indicated by a request for evaluation and subsequent service delivery needs.
- Services to students include individual and small group therapy focused on fine motor and sensory integration.
- Prepare reports following evaluation of students.
- Prepare progress reports following treatment of students.
- Attend IEP meetings and prepare goals and objectives
- Attend parent conferences
- Other related duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Special Education Director or Coordinator.

- Assessment of factors that contribute to participation within the school environment including the students performance of tasks (or ability to perform tasks) the activity demands and the environmental context
- Collaboration and communication with other members of the students educational team including the family
- Collaborative participation in team meetings relevant to supporting the student with identified special needs within the school or community environment (IEP or 504 Plan). This includes participation in the decision making process for determination of educational need options for service delivery and for termination of services.
- Collaboration with the educational team including the family to develop educationally relevant measurable and observable goals and objectives
- Planning and implementing occupational therapy intervention programs that meet the specific goals and objectives as stated in the IEP
- Provision of training to members of the students educational team for implementation and/or carryover of student programs
- Planning and implementing accommodations as outlined in the IEP or 504 Plan
- Documentation including instructional support/pre-referral and referral activities evaluation reports intervention notes progress notes consultation notes and summaries for IEP meetings
- Participation in the decision-making process and implementation for use of assistive technology
- Participation in the routine management of the occupational therapy program and materials
- Supervision of certified occupational therapy assistants
- Supervision of OT or OTA fieldwork students
