Whats the role

Shell Renewable Asset Management International (SRAMI) plays a key role accountable for the asset management including operations and technical support of a 2 gigawatt global portfolio of onshore solar wind battery storage and gas fired generation assets located in The Netherlands Oman Italy the United Kingdom Japan and United States with expectations to grow the managed flexible generation portfolio.

This role reports to the Global Engineering Manager and sits within the central multidisciplinary engineering team. It has been established in response to global investments and acquisitions in gas-fired generating (GFG) successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the operation maintenance and reliability of gas turbines and high-speed rotating equipment across the GFG asset portfolio.

Additionally the role will support onshore wind turbine assets leveraging rotating equipment knowledge to enhance asset to the industrys reliance on third-party Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contractors proven experience in contractor and contract management is essential. The role requires frequent travel with flexibility depending on the operational will be key with close working relationships across Asset Management Operations and Trading teams as well as support from internal functions and external service providers.

What youll be doing

Safety

  • Perform site walkthroughs by showing visible felt HSSE Leadership and mentoring to site personnel

  • Participate in Safety Meetings safety initiatives and taking personal responsibility regarding the Life Saving Rules

  • Maintain thorough understanding of relevant rules regulations and standards to keep field personnel safe and manage asset integrity

  • Establish and assure relevant Process Safety controls across fleet of gas fired generating assets

Technical

  • Maintenance Strategy: Develop implement and refine through-life asset maintenance strategies for rotating equipment across the gas fired generating assets

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to the global & regional site operations & maintenance teams on issues related to the gas turbines steam turbines compressors and other balance of plant (BoP) rotating equipment

  • Failure Analysis: Support Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) and working alongside the OEMs implement effective corrective and preventative action plans.

  • Turnaround Planning & Support: Working with the site O&M providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) ensure maintenance turnarounds are delivered to schedule budget and quality whilst achieving the expected levels of HSSE performance

  • Manage Threats & Opportunities (MTO): Working with Asset Management Operations Management OEMs and O&M providers lead the MTO Standard application across the gas fired generation portfolio utilizing the MTO process to create cost-effective actions plans to achieve target availability and reliability

  • Reliability Improvements: Proactively identify and resolve equipment reliability problems that impact overall asset performance

  • Compliance: Provide technical support and assurance oversight to ensure that the operational assets comply with all local regulatory requirements specific to the location/region. Establishing and monitoring Leading Indicators for performance and compliance

  • Management of Change (MOC): Lead the Management of Change (MoC) process and design changes according to Shell Group practices and procedures

  • Day-to-day technical support and guidance to site operations teams as dictated by maintenance operational interruptions and troubleshooting needs

  • Integrate across engineering disciplines functional teams and stakeholders to achieve business objectives

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • You must have a bachelors degree level with Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering Degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in operation and maintenance of rotating equipment

  • Minimum of 5 years of contractor management experience in an operational environment. Experience as a Contract Holder is preferred

  • Experience in O&M of diverse OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) gas turbine fleet with associated plant auxiliary systems.

  • Project management and delivery skills

  • Skilled in Maintenance Program Implementation and Execution

  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate complex topics

  • Can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills and take on challenges

  • Ability to work within a global multi-disciplinary team.

  • Be proactive in your own talent management and capability development

HSSE

  • Skilled at HSSE Management Implementation and Monitoring

  • Visibly demonstrate Safety Leadership and set clear expectations through the organization

  • Ensure Engineering and Maintenance support is provided to the organization to meet the mandatory Group HSSE Performance Framework and local laws and regulatory requirements

Leadership

  • Skilled at influencing without managerial ties

  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate complex topics

  • Skilled working with and influencing 3rd party contractors to continually improve Maintenance Operations and Safety performance

Technical

  • Application of Engineering design standards to modifications and asset managed changes when required

  • Responsible to oversee and assure records are established and maintained for gas turbine hot gas-pass component tracking

  • Knowledge in Root Cause Analysis and Causal Investigation Techniques

  • Develop performance standards to manage Safety Critical Elements (SCE) on Rotating Equipment

  • Knowledge in commissioning and startup of gas/steam turbine equipment and auxiliary systems

  • Skilled in equipment control condition monitoring shutdown and safeguarding specifications

  • Knowledge in selecting and specifying mechanical equipment including QA/QC process

  • Responsible for completing assurance on Performance Standards and overall compliance

  • Ensure that the correct levels of discipline competencies are maintained by O&M provider

  • Support technical due diligence and provide lessons learned during acquisition or design/construction of new gas-fired generation assets.

  • Support onboarding and integration activities of future gas-fired generation assets

Contract Management

  • Lead high value contract negotiations with service providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)

  • Act as Contract Holder for specific contracts

  • Provide technical SME input to relevant contracting strategies

What we offer

The salary range for this position is $124 000 - $186 000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience education certifications skill level seniority and internal equity.

Additionally employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
