Location: Lima Peru

Work Environment:
This position will be a full-time position based in Lima Peru reporting to the Peru Country Director. Additionally this role will work closely with the VP of Finance & Accounting and the Global Accounting Team (in the US and Africa). The atmosphere of Edify is one where you can expect to perform widely varied tasks with various functional groups. Edify believes in the importance of using local resources to avoid duplication and build local capacity. Most of its program activities are therefore implemented in partnership with local microfinance and training organizations. There will also be collaboration with Edifys global team in the other countries where Edify operates.
Travel Expectations:
The position includes both local and regional travel. Additionally Edify holds an annual all-staff meeting alternating in a US-based or international location each year. All Edify Staff are required to attend this meeting.
Job Summary:
As a Program Accountant one must have significant experience with payroll financial statements bank reconciliation and general accrual accounting. Planning administrative and reporting skills are also required. This position is hands-on and detail-oriented. The role involves daily communication with in-country staff as well as vendors and collaboration with various departments globally. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic a desire to serve others good time management skills excellent attention to detail good analytical and problem-solving skills a sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and good overall written and verbal communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create program expense reports; Collect and maintain appropriate receipts for monthly delivery to our global accounting team
- Monthly reconciliation of company bank account
- Ensure vendors provide invoices and are properly paid on a timely basis each month.
- Distribute program funds each month to staff based upon the budget for the month
- Develop practices for internal controls and running of the accounting of Edify Peru
- Daily communication with domestic and international staff as necessary in the performance of primary responsibilities
- Fixed asset accounting and annual equipment inventory
- Prepare for fiscal year-end audit
- Assist in preparation of tax returns and other government filings
- Research discrepancies in financial information and/or documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to established procedures prior to processing
- Work with local microfinance partners as assigned to assemble compile and analyze financial loan reports
- Support a culture that constantly pursues excellence and emphasizes strong documentation innovation and improved efficiency.
- Perform other accounting or financial tasks as may be required from time to time
- Assist the Country Director with preparing the monthly and annual budget request

- Budgeting and cost accounting
- Experience using accounting software (QuickBooks Netsuite Intacct etc.)
- Project and enterprise-level profit and loss analysis experience
- Loan portfolio analysis and loan repayment schedules experience
