Job Title: Regional Family Center Van Driver

Position Summary:

The Regional Family Center Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting children families and program participants to and from Family Centers and related activities. This role ensures a positive and safe transportation experience while maintaining the cleanliness and operation of the van. The Van Driver supports the mission of the Family Centers by helping participants access critical programs and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Transportation Services

  • Safely operate a van to transport program participants to and from the Family Center schools appointments and community events.
  • Travel between multiple Family Center locations based on daily route assignments and program needs.
  • Ensure the safe loading and unloading of passengers including those requiring assistance.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules while accommodating adjustments as needed.

Vehicle Maintenance and Safety

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
  • Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly to the Family Center Site Directors or appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the van including regular cleaning and disinfecting of passenger areas.
  • Responsible for making sure the inspection sticker is current and for regular maintenance of the van (oil changes tire rotations etc.)

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all traffic laws regulations and organizational policies related to vehicle operation and passenger safety.
  • Monitor passenger behavior and enforce safety protocols such as seatbelt usage.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies including reporting incidents and contacting emergency services when necessary.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with Family Center staff regarding transportation needs and scheduling.
  • Assist families and participants with information about transportation procedures and Family Center programs.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all passengers.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience driving a passenger van or similar vehicle preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and roadways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Dependability and punctuality.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Act 114 Act 34 Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

  • This position involves driving in various weather and traffic conditions.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend availability to accommodate special events or program needs.

  • Lifting carrying pushing pulling 35 pounds sometimes repetitively.
  • Ability to kneel crouch bend and reach to retrieve and handle teaching materials and supplies
  • Moving fingers and hands in a repetitive manner
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating with limited English speaking customers
  • Hearing clearly
  • Adequate vision to perform duties
