SUMMARY
The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching nursing assistant courses. This is a temporary non-benefit eligible position and employment is determined by number of credits taught on a contract basis. Courses may include alternative delivery methods day evening or weekend times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Conveys knowledge of the subject area in an effective manner in classroom lab and clinical settings for successful student learning outcomes
- Provides guidance and direction necessary to allow students to achieve pre-established course objectives and be prepared to take the Montana State Nurse Assistant certification exam.
- Acts as an advocate of the philosophy and policies of the College both in and out of the classroom/clinical.
- Works with the Nursing Program Director to maintain the programs compliance with the Montana Department of Health and Human Services which includes:
- Developing and conducting the nursing assistant courses
- Developing and revising of nursing assistant curriculum
- Ability to demonstrate required skills to students
- Planning implementing and evaluating learning experiences
- Participating in student advising for nursing assistant students
- Providing for student and peer evaluations of teaching effectiveness
- Assisting in collecting data for program evaluation and expansion
- Maintaining continuing professional development in area of academic responsibility
- Fosters positive student and community relations.
- Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements.
- Integrates subject area with other related curricula.
- Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Works professionally with college faculty and staff to aid with the educational process.
- Remains current in practices trends and research related to areas of assignment.
- Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed.
- Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students faculty and the College.
- Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
- Reports to the Nursing Program Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Montana Department of Health and Human Services and FVCC minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing; AND
- A current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Montana; AND
- Two years of experience in registered nursing practice and one year experience in Long Term Care; AND
- Have preparation for teaching in respective area of responsibility; AND
- Have experience and expertise in areas of assigned clinical responsibilities
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification (must be kept current throughout employment)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous teaching experience in classroom lab and clinical
- Work experience in simulations
- Courses in teaching methods testing and evaluation
- State of Montana approved Nurse Assistant Instructor
- Experience teaching in a secondary post-secondary or higher education environment
- Experience in differentiated instruction for diverse student populations

- Ability to effectively and safely teach content and technical material
- Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service
- Effective organizational and leadership skills;
- Working knowledge of use of technology in a learning environment
- Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community and students

- Demonstrated communication presentation educational service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to perform a Medium Duty job according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
