Summary:
To assist the MRI Technologist in the care safety and preparation of all MRI patients being examined including the proper and thorough screening of all non-MR personnel. Additional responsibilities include: patient and transport computer entry assistance with patient work flow complete understanding of the MRI rules regarding safety and screening and front desk reception assistance including greeting check in and reviewing safety questionnaire.
Responsibilities:
Properly identifying patients by matching the patient name and MRN# on wrist band to the patient name and MRN# on the requisition or in the case of outpatients any two identifiers would be acceptable. Escorts outpatients to the proper changing area. Advises patients on exam preparation removal of all metals and appropriate attire.
Confirms patient appointments for the following day and/or contacts patients who need additional imaging. Reviews screening questions/prior history with the patient as necessary. Explains any dietary preps or other specific directions for a successful exam. Identifies patients who require clearance prior to their exam and ensures any issues that need to be resolved are addressed in a timely manner.
Respects scheduled appointment times and communicates delays to reception staff and/or patients directly. Maintains patient flow by keeping workflow updated. Reviews paperwork for completeness prior to passing to the technologist.
Performs a patient merge verification on all patients scheduled for an MRI study. Assists in the maintenance of tracking logs ensuring accuracy and completeness. Process CD requests.
Able to recognize specific psychological and or/physical needs of patients and determines when further assistance is needed. Able to locate all necessary emergency equipment (code cart oxygen blood pressure monitor etc. Ability to complete required tasks during emergencies. Assists in quickly removing patients from the scan room (Zone lV )in the event of a patient emergency.
Stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis Keeps sub waiting room organized and tidy stocked with clean gowns Cross coverage for other tech aides as required.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. 1 year of previous hospital experience (preferred).
Minimum Experience: one year
Desired: BLS/Healthcare certification required (may be obtained within 90 days). Exhibits a degree of professionalism to instill patient confidence. Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrate respect and courtesy. Ability to work independently.
