LOCATION: Adminstration Building
SCHEDULE:12 Month Position
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Educationor related field
- Valid Michigan administrative certification or eligibility
- Approval or eligibility for Supervisor/Director of Special Education endorsement
- Demonstrated leadership experience in special education programs and services
- Strong knowledge of special education law compliance and instructional practices
- Proven ability to lead systems-level change and collaborate across departments
- Excellent communication problem-solving and interpersonal skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading special education at the district or multi-building level
- Demonstrated success improving outcomes for students with disabilities
- Experience with MTSS inclusive practices and co-teaching models
- Experience managing budgets and complex organizational system
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Leadership & Program Development
- Lead the design implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive continuum of special education services
- Ensure alignment of special education programming with district instructional priorities and student achievement goals
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using data to drive decision-making and improvement
Instructional Leadership
- Promote the integration of special education and general education through inclusive practices and co-teaching models
- Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and ensure alignment between intervention systems and special education services
- Collaborate with curriculum and instructional leaders to improve access to grade-level content for students with disabilities
Compliance & Accountability
- Ensure full compliance with IDEA MARSE Section 504 and all applicable state and federal regulations
- Oversee IEP development implementation and monitoring to ensure procedural and substantive compliance
- Serve as the districts lead in due process hearings complaints and dispute resolution
- Coordinate Child Find activities and ensuretimelyandaccuratereporting
Human Capital & Staff Development
- Lead recruitment hiring supervision and evaluation of special education staff
- Develop and implement strategies to improve staff retention and build organizational capacity
- Provide ongoing professional learning aligned to district priorities and staff needs
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the special education budget in collaboration with the business office
- Allocate resources strategically to support student needs and program effectiveness
- Oversee contracts transportation and specialized services
Collaboration & Communication
- Foster strong relationships with families staff and community partners through respectful communication and collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the district leadership team
- Represent the district in matters related to special education at the local regional and state levels
- Provide regular updates and reports to district leadership and the Board of Education
