Position Summary
The Student Services Fellow is a 1-2 year professional development opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in career services and student development. This role provides direct student support while developing expertise in program coordination data analysis and campus collaboration within a dynamic higher education environment. Reports to the Senior Director of the Career Center.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Engagement & Advising (50%)
Provide career advising appointments for first-year and sophomore students focusing on resume development internship exploration and major/career pathway exploration
Support the Career Center Ambassador program including guiding ambassadors on foundational resume and cover letter using approved templates
Support students in getting started with Handshake LinkedIn and internship search fundamentals
Deliver workshops and classroom presentations
Communication & Resource Development (30%)
Support the Information Manager and Communication Intern(s) with the Career Center social media presence across Instagram TikTok and LinkedIn creating content that resonates with student audiences
Develop and maintain student-facing resources including major-specific career guides internship toolkits and how-to videos
Create surveys and other modalities that gather student feedback following appointments and programs
Support digital communication initiatives including newsletters and promotional materials
Strategic Initiatives & Campus Partnerships (20%)
Serve as transition advocate with special focus on first-year to sophomore and junior to senior transitions developing proactive programming for these critical periods
Track engagement data and demographic trends to inform programming decisions
Support First Destination Survey data collection and analysis
Present periodic updates to staff on student engagement trends and insights
Qualifications
Bachelors degree completed within the past 1-2 years
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse student populations
Interest in higher education career development and student services
Proficiency with social media platforms and digital content creation
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively across departments
Professional Development
This fellowship provides mentorship professional training and the opportunity to develop transferable skills in advising program management assessment and higher education administration. The fellow may have opportunities to advance into professional staff roles following successful completion of the fellowship term.
