Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Diagnostic Technician who specializes in troubleshooting repairing and maintaining heavy-duty diesel engines. This role requires expertise in advanced diagnostic software electrical schematics and modern troubleshooting techniques to accurately identify and resolve engine hydraulic and electrical issues. This position is split 50% in-shop and 50% mobile service traveling to customer locations throughout Austin Victoria Jourdanton and Bandera to perform diagnostics and repairs. The ideal candidate is highly technical self-motivated and comfortable working both independently in the field and collaboratively in a shop environment. Pay can go up to $30/hour PLUS eligibility for labor-generated commission upon permanent hire.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines including engine hydraulic and electrical systems.
Utilize advanced diagnostic software and electronic service tools to identify faults and performance issues.
Interpret and apply electrical schematics and service manuals to complete accurate repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on diesel equipment and vehicles.
Provide mobile diagnostic and repair services at customer job sites across the service region.
Document diagnostic findings repairs and parts used in service reports.
Communicate repair needs and recommendations to customers and management.
Maintain tools equipment and service vehicles in safe and working condition.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and company procedures.
Requirements
Diesel Technology Certification required.
Proficiency with diesel diagnostic software including:
JPRO
Cummins Insite
Isuzu IDSS
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems hydraulics and electrical diagnostics.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and service documentation.
Valid Texas drivers license with a clean driving record.
Must pass background check MVR review and drug screening.
Must provide basic hand tools and toolbox.
Ability to work both in-shop and in the field with minimal supervision.
