Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to serve as the Executive Assistant providing day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to the Deputy Director. This position will serve as a direct liaison to Board members and provide operational supervision/oversight for board meetings board committee meetings and hearings. This position will also coordinate support activities of other staff that relate directly to the Board Meetings and its Members. This is an essential position for the success of the daily work flow of the agency. The Executive Assistant is the primary Point of Contact (POC) for Excellent Customer Service throughout the agency.

Additionally this position requires the following:
  • Exhibits strong policy analysis and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in event planning and demonstrates high level organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication discretion and professionalism.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30college credit hours from an accredited college or university forthe required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that includedregular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans policies rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in public sector regulatory environments preferably in healthcare or professional licensing.
  • Experience working with boards commissions or governing bodies.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of state and federal laws regulatory drafting and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership in a complex governmental organization.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death and dismemberment insurance and life insurance but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
