Organizational Summary:
The Office of Decision Support provides system-wide information and leadership to support decision-making related to the effectiveness of USF in achieving its mission.
Position Summary:
The Graduate Assistant contributes to the work of the unit within the Office of Decision Support by utilizing variety of tools (SAS SQL Python SPSS Microsoft Power BI Tableau R) and other BI/ predictive analytics tools to respond to the analytical needs around student success metrics. The Graduate Assistant (GA) will be exposed to the BI/analytical tools and will be supervised by Associate Director within the unit with opportunities to enhance their research and analytical skills in line with industry practices using predictive analysis and forecasting. The GA will be engaged in training around project management (Agile - Scrum/Kanban) and the data accessed by the unit structured and unstructured learning exercises/projects based on data reporting model building and institutional research.
ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities:
- Identify insights using predictive analytics tool/s interpret and provide high level summary analyses
- Collect prepare analyze data and create reports on student success related studies.
- Support other researchers in the Office of Decision Support to communicate findings to a myriad of stakeholders via various presentation formats (written reports white papers PowerPoint presentations Excel files dashboards other visualizations).
- Collaborate with other researchers in the Office of Decision Support on a variety of student success related research projects.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Must be fully admitted in a graduate degree program; classified as a degree seeking graduate student and meet the requirements of the graduate school. For some positions assigned to this class special qualifications may be added to the minimum such as completion of a masters degree or a specified number of graduate credit hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral students are preferred for this position.
- The position requires completion of the general education component of the major.
- The position requires 1-2 years of experience conducting research or data analysis.
- Experience with analyzing data
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Experience with SAS R SPSS or other statistical software
- Experience with Tableau SAS Visual Analytics or Microsoft Power BI
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with Python
- Strong organization skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
