The CooperSurgical R&D department is looking for Engineering students in Electrical Computer engineering and related tracks who are motivated to build and expand their real-world skills in a dynamic product development and manufacturing setting. The R&D interns will assist with the product development and core engineering processes. Interns will work on relevant in-process engineering projects during their time with the company.
The Summer Intern program at CooperSurgical provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful New Product Development projects that contribute to the overall business unit addition to the assigned projects Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers managers and employees.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Assist Engineering with design development validation and manufacturing of medical devices
Perform electrical engineering tests and document and analyze results
Write test protocols and reports
Participate in mathematical / simulation analysis of current and new electrical designs
Perform troubleshooting tasks in simple to complex circuit boards
Produce schematics simulations and other documentation to fully define components and designs
Hands-on assembly/engineering building of prototype parts
Draft and modify part drawings using SolidWorks/PCBAs using Altium
Work with cross-functional teams to help launch new products
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Intermediate skill in the use of Excel Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred.
Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.
Good project management organizational and follow-through skill set
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with SolidWorks/PCBAs using Altium Mathcad or MATLAB
Ability to read and follow electronic schematics layout knowledge a plus
Electronic fabrication soldering troubleshooting and analysis skills
Familiarity with electrical lab equipment including oscilloscopes multimeters function generators and power supplies
Work Environment:
Divided between office and laboratory work environment which includes a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work on-site 5 days a week at the Trumbull CT site.
At times will entail prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
This is a paid internship.
Experience:
Not required but prior Internship experience in product development is a plus.
Education:
Current college student majoring in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related tracks entering their Sophomore Junior or Senior year.
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Travel:
Minimal to no travel is expected. Visiting local vendors or labs can seldom be needed
