LifeSpire of Virginia is seeking a Nurse Aide to support our Daleville Community The Glebe!
Job Summary:
The Nurse Aide is responsible for providing direct care to residents under the direction of the nurse in charge and to assist/perform activities of daily living (i.e. bathing dressing toileting transferring bowel/bladder elimination eating/feeding mobility) with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining the highest level of resident independence.
The Nursing Assistant under the direction of the Nurse participates in the implementation of the resident care plan or the resident individualized service plan (ISP) through performance of specific tasks:
- Assist Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and residents in performing Activities of Daily Living and other personal care as described in the Care Plan to include bathing grooming mouth/denture care nail care foot care hair care dressing toileting hygiene mobility assistance with hearing aids/glasses transport ambulation and other resident assistance.
- Promptly report changes in the residents physical and cognitive status to the Nurse.
- Assist residents on admission and discharge packing/unpacking belongings; orientation to surroundings; introduction to other team members and residents; gathering data for the Nurse assessment.
- Understand and provide for emotional needs of residents.
- Transport residents to various departments as needed (i.e. therapy activities beauty shop).
- Assist with maintaining a safe attractive and comfortable environment for residents.
- Adhere to Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions for infection control per community policy. Dispose of infectious waste according to policy and state laws and regulations.
- Focuses on goal achievement and task accomplishment. Takes the lead to identify and resolve needs.
- Pass ice make beds answer call light assist during mealtimes and other duties as assigned
General Qualifications:
HealthCare:
- Upon hire must provide certificate or other proof of nurse aide course completion and approval to test for certification as a nurse aide through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Must obtain certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) within 90 days of employment team member will then sign acknowledgement of a CNA job description
Assisted Living/Memory Care:
- Proof of successful completion of a Virginia Board of Nursing-approved nurse aide course/education program (note if the program is offered by a hospital and not approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing Administrator must get approval through DSS) OR
- Proof of completion of a LPN or RN education program OR
- Proof of current enrollment in a LPN or RN education program with completion of at least one clinical course in the program that includes 40 hours of direct care clinical experience OR
- Proof of completion of a personal care aide (PCA) training program approved by the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) OR
- Proof of successful completion of the DSS approved 40-hour direct care staff training provided by a RN or LPN
