Reports to: Executive Director for Strategy Resources and Transformation

Salary: 91276-104513pa with progression to 117748 with our pay progression framework.

Location:Hybrid(contracted to Manchester)

From Autumn 2026 our head office willrelocatefrom Wilmslow to Manchester city will be contracted to the Manchester office; however we offer hybrid working options and you will be able to split your time between home and office.

The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) is the independent regulator of information rights empowering people through a data-driven world we protect and safeguard the public by providing advice and enforcing the law taking action where warranted. This includes providing advice guidance and support to organisations to enable compliance with legal obligations responsible innovation and economic growth.

We oversee and enforce ten pieces of legislation. This includes the Data Protection Act 2018 UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

About the Role

The ICO is seeking a new Finance Director to lead its Finance Facilities and Procurement functions at a pivotal moment. Youll shape the financial strategy strengthen controls and provide the insight that enables riskaware valueformoney regulation advising senior leaders and the Board and supporting effective decision making at the most senior levels within the organisation.

You will:

  • Shape financial strategy and standards; own budgeting forecasting and financial controls.
  • Ensure that the ICO has robust and transparent financial management.
  • Advise senior leaders and the Board on performance risks and opportunities.
  • Lead funding discussions with the ICOs sponsor department and maintain transparent external assurance relationships with external partners such as the National Audit Office.
  • Build a highperforming inclusive function with strong business partnering analysis and assurance capability; and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with publicsector financial procurement and facilities regulations; deputise for the Executive Director as needed.

About You

You will bring substantial seniorlevel experience leading a public or privatesector finance function with a track record of service transformation and trusted advice at executive/Board level. You will combine strategic thinking with commercial acumen and exemplary communication skills and build highperforming inclusive teams. A relevant professional finance qualification is expected.
