The Karlup Service is a holistic wraparound service model for women and children to heal and recoverfrom family and domestic violence (FDV) which will run from the Angela Wright Bennett Centre for Women and Children(AWBC) building a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility in the Perth CBD.
Housing Support will be offered as part of the Karlup Service with the goal of supporting women who haveexperienced FDV to secure safe and stable housing for themselves and their children as an integral part ofthe healing and recovery journey.
Reporting to and supported by the Team Lead the Housing Support Co-ordinator will support clients by helpingthem to identify their housing needs connecting them in with available resources and services advocatingfor their tenancy rights and supporting their understanding of their rights and responsibilities as tenants tobuild their capacity to obtain and maintain suitable housing.
We are seeking someone to fulfil this role on a fixed term 12 month basis working 38 hours weekly between Monday to Friday.
What were looking for
The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:
Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Housing Community Services Social Work CommunityDevelopment or similar discipline desired.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the housing/homelessness sector includingextensive knowledge of current housing services and how to navigate the systems that supportthem.
Comprehensive knowledge of current tenancy laws and the ability to communicate theseeffectively to clients.
Previous experience in working effectively with women who have experienced family and domesticviolence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of family and domestic violence and the socialand cultural context in which it occurs.
Capability to work effectively with a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery. Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability and contribute to the functioning of theteam.
Effective interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
