Role Overview:
- Be part of a highly motivated dynamic team of engineers working on delivery and application engineering of existing and new electronic applications particularly for HVDC converters and the forthcoming HVDC Grid.
- Work in a very exciting and dynamic field of power engineering where GEs leading contribution has worldwide recognition.
- Opportunity to innovate and expand personal development within an internationally recognised company.
- Role has a level of autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.
- Some degree of judgment is required supplemented by guidance where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead management of component obsolescence and lead time management.
- Implement and improve component lifecycle strategies.
- Establish and manage supplier interfaces.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for long-term support of component obsolescence.
- Support delivered in-work and future projects.
- Apply engineering knowledge to solve problems using technical skills and analytic thinking.
- Propose different solutions outside set parameters using judgment and guidance.
- Share knowledge apply different engineering methods and demonstrate an enquiring mind and desire to learn new skills.
Qualifications:
- Electronic expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience.
- Good technical understanding of digital and where possible analogue electronic design for an industrial control system.
- High degree of knowledge and understanding of electronic components and principles.
- High degree of knowledge and understanding of obsolescence management and lifecycle management principles.
- Experience of value engineering is beneficial.
- Ability to think innovatively and apply engineering knowledge.
- Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks accessing multiple internal sources to arrive at decisions.
