As a Remote Hands Engineer you are the on-site physical support for clients and internal teams. You will execute all remote hands requests including hardware installations cabling asset management and visual inspections ensuring high-quality service delivery in a 24x7 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Execution: Perform all physical tasks as requested including server/equipment installations decommissioning hardware troubleshooting and parts replacement.
- Cabling & Connectivity: Manage and install network structured cabling (copper/fiber) patching and labeling according to standards.
- Asset Management: Maintain accurate inventory of all hardware and equipment. Track assets using the designated systems.
- Site Support: Provide support for data centre operations including physical access control and monitoring of environmental conditions. Assist with site audits and inspections.
- Incident Support: Assist the Critical Environment team and NOC during incidents by providing on-the-ground eyes and hands.
- Customer Service: Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with clients who may be remote or on-site providing clear updates on request status.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree or Diploma in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a data centre environment with a focus on hardware deployment cabling or remote hands support.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of server hardware (Dell HP Cisco) cabling standards and data centre best practices (cable management labeling). Good written and verbal communication skills.
