This is an opportunity to join the Parliamentary Briefing and Correspondence Team as a B2 Parliamentary Manager. The team plays a key role in managing Social Security Scotlands engagement with the Scottish Parliament. This includes leading a team contributing to briefings for the Executive Team and the Cabinet Secretary drafting and managing timely reviews of Ministerial correspondence overseeing telephone enquiries from Parliamentarians and stakeholders and supporting senior leaders in meetings with Ministers.
As a key team member you will line manage B1 staff support senior colleagues and contribute to high-impact work in a fast-paced supportive environment with regular engagement with senior stakeholders.
You will lead on Parliamentary activity ensuring timely accurate and aligned briefings and readouts for events such as Committee appearances and Executive Team meetings with Members of the Scottish Parliament and Ministers.
The role involves close collaboration with internal teams including Analysis and Insights Client Services Delivery and Finance and Corporate Services along with colleagues in Social Security Policy to produce high-quality politically aware briefings and correspondence. You will help identify and mitigate risks early requiring sound judgement and political acuity.
Responsibilities
Line management of B1 Parliamentary and Correspondence Officers.
Ensuring incoming enquiries are appropriately co-ordinated and that accurate consistent quality responses are appropriately drafted and reviewed.
Maintain and update in liaison with colleagues key products including core briefs Cabinet Secretary core brief and briefing for First Ministers Questions.
Support intelligence gathering activity by producing readouts of Parliamentary sessions including Committee sessions Portfolio Questions and First Ministers Questions.
Support with Ministerial meetings including contributing to briefings and follow-up actions.
Day-to-day liaison with colleagues on routine activity track and update evidence including quotes and case studies.
Co-ordinate engagement with Parliamentary stakeholders and identify opportunities for engagement.
Track risks and issues and horizon scan.
Other duties as required recognising the evolving remit and responsibilities of the team.

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role.
