DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute predictive preventative and breakdown maintenance procedures. Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment.
- Select install repair and maintain mechanical electrical process and support equipment and systems.
- Support production by troubleshooting and repairing equipment (e.g. mechanical electrical) failures.
- Use gauges and test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and failures.
- Fabricate and install new equipment for assigned projects.
- Weld repair and fabricate parts and equipment.
- Inspect plant equipment(compressors pumps etc.) on a daily basis to monitor health and functionality.
- Conduct daily inspection of process and packaging systems. Inspects work to assure proper execution prior to startup.
- Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders and maintenance procedures.
- Capture and maintain information on equipment deficiencies and communicates information effectively with facilities engineer/or manager and co-workers.
- Communicate and interact with entire maintenance team and larger site operations team to ensure smooth coordinated maintenance operations.
- Assist in maintaining parts inventory and requisition of equipment materials and supplies.
- Assist other maintenance or operations team members when required.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and maintains shop cleanliness.
- Implement all safe work practices and programs including but not limited to those that support personnel safety process safety product safety and environmental safety.
- Provide Emergency assistance (off-hours) as required.
- Participate as a member of the companys HAZMAT team.
- Work with and/or direct outside contractors as required/assigned.
- Maintain a competitive knowledge base through participation in Industry professional associations vendor training and continuing education.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned or necessary.
Educational and Job Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment preferably food or beverage or non-durable products.
Job-related Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of accepted means and methods for the maintenance trade.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong electrical aptitude.
- Familiar with typical manufacturing & support systems including Process and packaging; Pneumatic vacuum hydraulic steam water; Refrigeration/HVAC; Power controls lighting.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
- Ability to read and understand operation and maintenance manuals.
- Understand how to use a computerized maintenance management system.
- Ability to use independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations.
- Ability to troubleshoot in time-efficient manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressured environment where internal and external customer demands are expected and routine.
- Ability to perform a breakdown analysis and determine root cause.
- Ability to take initiative to understand and define problem/deficiency.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deliver results in a timely yet safe manner
- Use of hand and power tools
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to proficiently communicate in written and verbal form in English.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and associated safety precautions.
- Ability to travel when needed to multiple company sites/facilities with occasional out-of-town travel for related activities.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Required to provide evidence of automotive insurance and safe motor vehicle driving record.
- Required to attend ERT and first-aid training.
- Required to be certified in forklift driving.
Additional/Preferred
Two-year technical degree.
Hazmat certification.
Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions
The essential functions of the job and working conditions requires the individual to sit walk stand stoop bend reach crawl lift and usage of a computer.
The job requires the individual to work in a light to moderate noise environment and/or up to a high level of noise environment that requires mandated personal protective equipment. Working environment may include but is not limited to: the donning wearing and usage of hairnets smocks coats gloves boots glasses and hard hats. The position may be exposed to extreme climate (e.g. hot dry cold and wet) conditions; may potentially be exposed to allergens and will work in and around hazardous energy (i.e.: electricity steam /condensate etc.) and toxic chemicals (ammonia Freon etc.).
The position is required to attend workplace safety and accident prevention training and emergency responder position is required to be certified in forklift driving.
Job may require traveling occasionally out of town travel for meetings/trainings.

Work Schedule: See above but will require flexibility to include evening/nights/weekends and emergency or consult back-up responsiveness.
