Job Description

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

The Instrument Technician provides services which include but are not limited to:

  • Decontamination preparation and packaging sterilization storage and distribution of surgical instruments.Dependableand reliable service is expected to ensure instruments are processed and distributed quickly to enhance patient care quality.

  • Clean instruments with appropriatesolution scrub brushes etc.

  • Pass all hinged instruments through ultrasound.

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness andwearbefore packaging.

  • Package instruments withappropriate labeling.

  • Sterilize instruments using autoclave/magna clave.

  • Document instrument batches.

  • Document sporetestdaily.

  • Clean autoclave/magna clave per protocol.

  • Ensure autoclave/magnaclave isfunctioning efficiently.

  • Return instruments toappropriatedepartments.

  • Ensure instruments are stored in a safe and sterile fashion.

  • Run a minimum ofthree loadsdaily.

  • Providein-servicetraining tostaff as needed.

  • Placeorders and/orsubmitorders for all locations.

  • Follow all IFUs guidelines for instrument sterilization.

  • Facilitate maintenance of sterilization equipment and troubleshoot any issues as needed.

  • Provide training to new sterilization technicians.

  • Ensure the department is compliant with all regulatorystandards specific to the carehandlingand storage of sterile instruments.

  • Proper documentation of hours worked by clocking in and outas needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Applicant must hold a CRCST Certification

  • Travel isto and from anySummit Healthlocation throughout the workday as needed. Reimbursement will be provided for authorized transportation and travel incurred in connection with carrying out responsibilities for the position.
