Position Overview
Bloom Talent Solutions is seeking a high-caliber Assistant Controller to support and eventually lead the finance function for a growing full-service commercial landscaping company scaling from approximately $10M to $20M in revenue.
This is a hands-on succession-oriented role designed for an experienced accounting professional who wants to move beyond transactional accounting and become a strategic financial partner. The role will support operations across maintenance enhancements and irrigation service lines with a strong focus on job costing margin visibility and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead monthly close financial reporting and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate reporting across multiple service lines (maintenance enhancements irrigation)
- Maintain strong financial controls and reporting accuracy
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Partner with leadership on revenue planning cost tracking and margin performance
Accounting Operations
- Oversee billing and accounting workflows (AP/AR supported by existing team)
- Support job costing revenue recognition and cost allocation across service lines
- Manage multi-entity accounting and operational finance needs
Systems & Process Improvement
- Improve financial processes controls and reporting structure
- Assist with systems optimization (QuickBooks Online Excel reporting tools)
- Build scalable processes to support continued growth
Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
- Act as a finance partner to leadership providing insights and recommendations
- Collaborate with Operations Field Leadership and HR
- Support decision-making tied to profitability crew performance and growth initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Industry Experience: Background in commercial landscaping construction or field-service businesses
- Operational Mindset: Strong understanding of job costing service-based revenue models and production metrics
- Detail-Oriented: Strong command of accounting fundamentals and reporting
- Process-Driven: Systems-oriented with the ability to improve workflows and controls
- Professional Presence: Confident communicator who can work with both leadership and field teams
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years in an Assistant Controller or senior accounting role
- Certification: CPA strongly preferred
- Strong financial reporting and analysis
- Experience with job costing and operational accounting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online Excel and reporting tools
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: $80000 (flexible based on experience)
