3 Months Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
The Light Vehicle Technician will be responsible for inspecting diagnosing repairing and maintaining cars and light commercial vehicles. The role ensures vehicles are safe reliable and meet all legal and manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and servicing (oil changes filters brakes etc.)
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
Repair or replace faulty components (engines transmissions suspension etc.)
Conduct vehicle inspections and road tests
Carry out MOT pre-checks and ensure compliance with safety standards
Maintain accurate service records and job reports
Follow health & safety regulations in the workshop
Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies and repair techniques
Requirements:
Must hold a valid UK Driving Licence
Must possess IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent e.g. City & Guilds) as a minimum qualification
Must hold a valid MOT Tester Licence (Classes 4 5 & 7)
Proven hands-on experience as a Light Vehicle Technician or similar role
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good understanding of health & safety practices in a workshop environment
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Additional Information
- 36 Working Hours Per Week
